This classic car was purchased in Germany in 1986 while we were in the Air Force. It was noted at the time that it was owned by a German bishop prior to our purchase (note curtains in the rear window). We shipped the car to the U.S. in 1988 and did minimum conversion from the German specs to be allowed for use in the U.S. We drove the car until 1996 when a job change and relocation caused us to park it in a family barn. I'd love to rebuild it but lack the time and resources at this time. This car is waiting for the right owner to rejuvenate it to its previous glory days. Sold "as-is" and we'll assist you in taking it away to its new home. The car has not been started or operated since 1996. Automatic transmission.

The odometer still reads in actual kilometers driven (converted speedometer reflects MPH and Miles): 220,964 km (137,301 miles)

The Mercedes-Benz 280 SE is a saloon (sedan) designed by Friedrich Geiger with 4 doors and a front mounted engine which supplies its power to the rear wheels. The 280 SE forms part of Mercedes-Benz's W 116 family of cars. The 6 cylinder, double overhead camshaft naturally aspirated engine has 2 valves per cylinder and a volume of 2.7 litres. For this model it provides power and torque figures of 182 bhp (185 PS/136 kW) at 5800 rpm and 240 Nm (177 lb-ft/24.5 kg-m) at 4500 rpm respectively. The engine drives the wheels via a 4 speed automatic transmission. Quoted weight at the curb is 1610 kg. The Mercedes-Benz 280 SE is claimed to achieve a maxiumum speed of 200 km/h (124 mph).

I'll have limited ability to respond to your inquiries from 14 to 28 September due to travel plans.
